The magazine I'm thinking of creating is about live music in New York City. The main focus will be on future music events and concerts that will take place throughout the city. It is tentatively titled "Live from N.Y.C." The idea stems from my love of attending concerts of all kinds, and how NYC is one of the best cities to enjoy live music with its variety of styles to offer and the venues relatively close to one another. Since NYC has such a wide range of music cultures, the magazine will touch on different types of music, concerts for large and small venues, indoor and outdoor shows, free and not-so-free events. It would be more in-depth than a simple listing you would see in other magazines. Also it would contain reviews of past NYC shows, flashbacks to past big NYC concert events (ie Beatles playing Shea Stadium), profiles of NYC artists, music history of venues, small fan features and gear guide.
As for the style, it would be very photography heavy consisting mostly of live concert photos. The covers and artwork for the features would play homage to classic and vintage concert posters, emulating the style but with current content. Within the pages the style would change depending on the content, perhaps bright/neon/futuristic for more pop/dance/hip-hop styles of music, and dark/gritty/rough/worn for rock/punk/rap styles. But if in practice the two looks seem to clash, then I may lean more towards the grittier look.
